We are constantly reviewing our list of links and we are open to your suggestions - email us with details of any sites that you think would be of interest to other phenology recorders.

Amphibian and Reptile Recording Scheme - The National Amphibian and  Reptile Recording Scheme NARRS is a partnership project led by the Herpetological Conservation Trust to help better understand the distribution and status of the amphibians and reptiles in Britain and to raise the profile of these species.

ARG UK - ARG UK is the umbrella organisation for local (usually 'county level') amphibian and reptile groups (ARG's). The ARG's are often some of the most active recording bodies for undertaking work on reptiles and amphibians.  Its website provides contact details for your local group.

BBC News on climate change - (weather centre) - Regularly updated with the latest news, views and developments, and written by leading environmental correspondents such as Alex Kirby.

Blahdeeblah  - They are a non commercial directory of environmental and ethical websites.

The British Mycological Society has the sole objective to promote mycology (biology of fungi) in all its aspects and it has some 2000 worldwide members to help them do so. Membership is open to anyone, and various meetings and workshops are held each year...

British nature - This site is dedicated to nature found in Britain.

British Trust for Ornithology - For for the latest information on the status of many of the birds featured on our recording forms, as well as the Migration Watch and the Garden Bird Watch project.

British Wildlife - is an independent bi-monthly magazine covering all aspects of British natural history and conservation. Subscriptions and books published by British Wildlife are available via our website.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust - The Bumblebee Conservation Trust has been set up in response to recent declines experienced by bumblebee species. They hope to generate awareness and interest in their plight using education, and to eventually carry out conservation activities.

Butterfly conservation - Membership organisation saving moths, butterflies and their habitats.

Centre for Alternative Technology - Europe's leading Eco-centre with lots of information and ideas on how to lessen our impact on the world.

Changing climate - A website devoted to climate change and featuring a wealth of articles and information on the latest climate change research, ideas and news.

The Chemistry of Autumn Colors - An interesting article on autumn leafing from the University Wisconsin-Madison.

Climate change in Scotland - This site has been produced on behalf of the Scottish Executive by Learning and Teaching Scotland. Aimed primarily at young people the website informs and raises awareness of some of the key issues surrounding climate change and the effect on Scotland.

The Coleopterist - The Coleopterist is the leading journal for students of the beetle fauna of the British Isles. It features a great photo gallery of British beetles and the latest beetle news.

Dragonfly Society - The aim of the British Dragonfly Society is to promote and encourage the study and conservation of dragonflies and their natural habitats, especially in the United Kingdom.

Earthwatch - The mission of Earthwatch Institute is to promote the sustainable conservation of our natural resources and cultural heritage by creating partnerships among scientists, the general public, educators, and businesses.

Encyclopaedia of the Atmospheric Environment - Written by the Atmosphere, Climate &Environment Information Programme, the Encyclopaedia of the Atmospheric Environment provides brief but clear guides on a wide range of climate change subjects, including the Kyoto Protocol and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

European Phenology Network - Increasing efficiency, added value and use of phenological monitoring and research in Europe in the context of global climate change.

Forest schools  - Forest schools encourage and inspire children and young people of all ages, from pre-school to Key Stage 3+, using positive experiences and participation set in a woodland environment.

Froglife - Froglife is a charitable organisation that works with volunteers, ecologists, government departments and the public to conserve the native amphibians and reptiles of Britain and Ireland.

Global Change Master Directory - NASA’s Global Change Master Directory is a comprehensive directory of earth science and global change data. It enables climate change to be mapped against a vast range of subjects, from solar activity to glaciers, coastal processes to soils, the atmosphere to the oceans.

Global top ten - Atmosphere, a BBC webpage detailing facts and figures concerned with climate change - an accessible look at the subject and what it means for us now and in the future.

Guardian Unlimited's Global Warming - The Guardian newspaper's Global Warming site. All the latest news, plus a huge archive of articles by leading environmental journalists such as Paul Brown and Tim Radford.

Hadley Centre for climate prediction and research - The Met Office’s Hadley Centre for climate prediction and research provides the United Kingdom with an up-to-date, expert assessment of natural and human-influenced changes in global and regional climate.

Herpetological Conservation Trust - The Herpetological Conservation Trust is a national charity dedicated to conserving reptile and amphibians.  It is the lead partner for amphibians and reptile action plans, manages nature reserves and works with volunteers to undertake survey and coordinates national schemes for recording and monitoring amphibians and reptiles.

Info4local.gov.uk - info4local is a one-stop portal for local authorities to get quick and easy access to information they need on the web sites of central government departments and agencies.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assesses the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant for a global understanding of human-induced climate change.

Ladybird survey - A website which features fascinating information on the many species of ladybird in the UK, as well as the London and Essex Ladybird Surveys. The website has been created by Paul Mabbott, a UKPN recorder and an ecologist engaged in the study of insects of urban woodland. Paul has kindly agreed to answer any of your questions and queries on ladybirds.

Met Office - A new report by the scientists at the Met Office's Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research which was issued at a major UN Climate Change Conference in New Delhi predicts that the damage already done to the climate will affect us for the next 1000 years. The report's main author is climate scientist Jason Lowe from the Hadley Centre.

Native tree shop - The Woodland Trust's native tree shop supplies a range of native trees and shrubs. All Woodland Trust proceeds from the native tree shop go towards our work caring for trees and woods across the UK.

nef.org.uk - The National Energy Foundation exists to help UK citizens address climate change issues through practical advice and help in installing energy saving measures and implementing appropriate renewable energy sources.

New Scientist Climate Change Special - A regularly updated resource of articles related to climate change from New Scientist.

Osprey project - Follow the progress of ospreys migrating across seas, mountains and deserts. Climate change is having and will have an impact on all migrating birds.

RealClimate - a commentary site on climate science by working climate scientists for the interested public and journalists. We aim to provide a quick response to developing stories and provide the context sometimes missing in mainstream commentary.

rECOrd-LRC.co.uk -  is the Biodiversity Information System for all your ecological & natural history information requirements in Cheshire, Halton, Warrington & Wirral.

Royal Meteorological Society -  The Royal Meteorological Society actively advances and promotes meterology, and via their 'Contact us' page offers the opportunity for meterology-related questions to be emailed in to their experts.

Save Energy - This site provides advice on how to become energy efficient in the home. It includes searchable product databases, an Energy Saving Wizard calculator and other pratical tips on how to save energy and cut bills - as well as helping the environment.

South East Climate Change Partnership - SECCP is a partnership of public, private and voluntary sectors which has joined together with a shared recognition of the need to adapt to the likely impacts of climate change. They cover the geographical areas of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, East Sussex, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex. Their website features a great deal of useful information relating to climate change including reports and bulletins.  

Tree For All is the largest children's tree planting initiative the UK has ever seen. The Woodland Trust's vision is that every child should have the chance to plant trees. Over the next five years one million children will be involved in planting twelve million trees - that's one tree planted for every child under 16 in the UK.

Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research
 - The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research is a consortium of nine institutions based at the University of East Anglia. Brings together scientists, economists, engineers and social scientists to develop sustainable responses to climate change.

UK Climate Impacts Programme - The UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP) is based at Oxford University. UKCIP is intended to help organisations assess their vulnerability to climate change and to plan appropriate adaptation strategies. A number of reports are accessible once you have completed a simple registration to their website including 'London's Warming' , commissioned by the London Climate Change Partnership and ‘Gardening in the Global Greenhouse’, commissioned by the RHS and National Trust.

UK Safari - UK Safari - a site for anyone interested in the wildlife of Britain, offering a free monthly nature newsletter telling you what to look out for each month and the best places to find wildlife.

UK species- aims to create an accessible online resource of information for UK Species of use to individual naturalists and conservation organisations.

UN Environment Programme - The United Nations Environment Programme’s Biodiversity and Climate Change Programme is conducting studies into climate change’s effects on waterbirds, forests, oceans and coral.

Waspsite - This website explains how simple actions you can take to avoid being stung by a wasp relate to wasp biology and wasp behaviour. The emphasis of the site is how people can live safely within, or beside, their territory.

West Midlands Biodiversity Partnership - The Partnership helps care for the region's wildlife by protecting important species and habitats, replacing past losses and making new provisions. It supports survey work, advises landowners, works with policy-makers, and promotes biodiversity to a wide audience.

When to Watch Wildlife - When to Watch Wildlife is a month by month guide to what wildlife you can see in Britain. The site also provides lots of information about specific plants and animals and where they live, as well as links to the latest wildlife sightings and news on the web.

Wild Flower Society - The Society has been running for over a century and is the only national society created specifically for amateur botanists/wild flower lovers in the UK.

Woods under threat - Woods and trees under threat - provides information on the location of ancient woods and ancient trees that are under threat. It also displays the ancient woodland inventories online and provides advice in a campaigner's guide on fighting your own cases of woods and trees under threat.
