• Male has contrasting grey crown
   
• Both sexes have rusty grey/brown topsides and tinted pale underparts
   
• A varied, scratchy song
   

Where found

Gardens, woods, heaths and hedges- over most of the UK except the highlands.

When to look for

A summer visitor from April / May.
