• Our most common and widespread warbler
   
• A small bird, up to 11cm
   
• Neat olive-brown plumage
   
• Best distinguished from the chiffchaff by its song – a sad descending melody.
   

Where found

Almost any patch of woodland or scrub.
 

When to look for

A summer visitor – March/April onwards.
